Located in Southern Montana, Hebgen Lake is more than 16 miles long and measures up to four miles at the widest point on its southern end. Being so vast, and being so close to Yellowstone National Park, can make for windy conditions at times. A motorboat, canoe, pontoon or kayak are the best fishing boats to use on this large lake.
Rainbow and Brown trout can be found in Hebgen Lake, which explains its yearly popularity with local anglers. The trout in Hebgen Lake are good sized, with brown trout averaging about 16 inches and rainbows measuring in the 14 inch range.
A fifteen minute drive from West Yellowstone Airport, 95 miles from Bozeman International Airport and 100 miles from Idaho Falls Airport, Hebgen Lake is easy to get to. Directly off State HWY 287, you have year-round access to one of the most beautiful, picturesque locations in North America. Hebgen Lake is an outdoor paradise whether you're looking for fishing, camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, boating, sailing, kayaking, swimming, snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing or capturing these amazing views on camera.
